On
this page you can see some images from a couple of the selling

We had a lot of fun at the fair, meeting new customers and
many friends who have come to see us at the various events we have held
in Tokyo over the years.

 |
As usual,
we had a wide range of antique lace, linens and accessories for sale.
Here you can see some lovely old lace scarves and stoles, plus a detail
from a Nottingham machine lace curtain, featuring a central motif of
cherubs gathering the grape harvest.
Many of
the customers enjoyed themselves
rummaging through the bags of edgings and accessories, trying to find
exactly the pieces they wanted to take home.

 |
We
brought lots of doilies and small accessories. In the above picture you can see a 19th century Maltese lace handkerchief and a
beaded crochet 'sugar' cover.
There was also a large linen cloth with
many 'teatime' motifs of cups, saucers, teapots etc, and a corner
decoration stating '4 o'clock tea'. We had some matching teacosies too.
I love these teatime designs.

We always
like to have some costume too. Here you can see a very attractive
machine lace coat plus a very pretty and wearable collar. In the bottom
picture a pretty white work collar is also featured. We also brought
some fine antique flounces of Brussels and other laces.

 |
In
addition to the lace, we had many examples of Victorian scraps, and you
can just see a large Redouté rose book peaking out from behind the
lace. It is an original book from the 1950's, featuring many of the
beautiful rose prints. The Normandy lace in the bottom picture has been
made into a sweet little cushion.

The
beautiful silk Maltese collars are always popular, and I also like to
collect these handmade boxes. They were made as hobby pieces, from old
greetings cards.

 |
Some
pretty hand worked filet cloths and panels ( of cherubs) and panels of needle run
veils. Also we brought some bags of lace for craftspeople who like to
use pieces of antique lace in their projects.
The lace fair was a
wonderful opportunity to meet some of our Cream Tea customers and to
share our love of lace. We would like to thank everyone who attended the
fair and hope to meet you in the futue at another event.
