Lace Curtains

Although these curtains were on sale almost 90 years ago, curtains with designs like these are still popular today. Of course the prices were considerably lower in those days. Most of these curtains cost less than £1 a pair at the time.

A nice plain design in white muslin. Muslin is the name for a finely woven cloth. All of these curtain would have been woven in cotton.

Floral designs are always popular.

This curtain was available in white or ivory. 'Ivory' is sometimes also called cream or off-white. It is a similar colour to the page behind this text. Linens which are nearer to beige in colour are sometimes referred to as 'ecru'.
