Here are some ideas for decorating boxes to make attractive containers for small items such as make-up. The interiors of the boxes are divided into small compartments and lined with gold paper. 

The box with the carnation decoration has been painted with oil crayons. If you paint onto a coloured background they suggest that you use a white crayon first and work the other colours into this.

The 'art deco' box is covered with spots in a variety of colours and sizes. This would be easy to copy and produces a very effective design. The sides of the box are covered with a marbled paper and the box is finished off neatly with a tassel.

Both boxes have been given a coat of clear varnish to seal in the design.
