Isn't this Victorian Photographer's Parlour wonderful! I think it is one of my favourites. I love the little camera and the chair set in front of a velvet curtain, ready for the next customer. The William Morris wallpaper in the background is a nice touch too and the potted plants are ones typically grown in those times. The spiky one on the right is called 'Mother-in-Laws tongue'. Not very flattering as it implies that this relative would have a sharp tongue! |

このヴィクトリアンの写真館すばらしい！大好きなもののひとつです。 写真機とベルベットのカーテンの前に置かれたイスが次のお客様を待っています。 背景のウィリアムモリスの壁紙も素敵です。鉢植えのグリーンはこの時代によく見られたものです。右側にある大きな葉の植物のことを「姑の舌」英語ではMother-in-Laws tongueといいます。お姑さんの言うことは辛らつ、ということを皮肉った意味。 英文を読むためのヒント -parlour 店､応接室。parlorともつづる。 -favourite お気に入り。favoriteとつづる。
