I found
these designs for cushions and nightdress cases in an old magazine. It
was published in the very early years of the 20th century but is not
dated. The name of the magazine is 'Needle and Home'.
The pages of
the magazine are filled with descriptions and illustrations of items to
make, using a variety of needlework techniques. When you bought the
magazine you received a few free paper transfer patterns but for most of
the articles you bought the materials from them in what we now
call 'kit form'. They would supply the silks and the linen already
traced with the design, ready for you to start. It was also possible to
purchase the trimmings such as lace and tassels that some items needed
to finish them off.
So, click on the
pictures above to see the pictures. Maybe some of them will inspire you
to try something similar.
