| This
panel could be used as a tray cloth or as the front of a cushion or
nightdress case. It was worked on a linen background in four shades of
pink. Three shades of green have been used for the leaves. If you
look carefully you can see that black cotton has been used to outline
the stems and leaves on this design. To give the effect of shading only
one half of the leaf has been coloured in. In the other half the leaves
and veins have just been outlined in black.
Although the design of the flowers is quite naturalistic, the long sinuous stems and asymmetrical nature of the design is characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement. Finally a delicate bobbin lace has been used to outline the panel. |

このパネルはトレイクロス、あるいはクッションやナイトドレスケースのフロントデザインに使えそうです。リネン地に４種の色合いのピンクが用いられています。葉っぱには３種類の緑が使われています。よく見ると、茎と葉のアウトラインには黒のコットンが使われているのが分かります。葉の半分にだけ色をつけて、後の半分と葉脈は黒で縁取りしてあるだけです。 花はとても自然なデザインですが、まがりくねってアシンメトリーな茎のデザインはアールヌーボーに特徴的なデザインです。最後にパネルの縁に繊細なボビンレースをつけて仕上げています。 - stem 茎、幹 - vein 静脈、葉脈、血管 - sinuous 曲がりくねった |
