| I had
quite a shock recently when I looked out of the window into my garden.
It was about 9.30am on a sunny February morning. I could see a
rust-coloured object in my flower border. At first I
though it must be a cat, but when I looked more closely I realized
that it was a fox. In fact, I then noticed that there were two of them.
If you look closely at my photo you might just be able to see the second
fox curled up asleep in the top left-hand side of the picture. They had stopped by
for a spot of sunbathing. |

| It isn't
uncommon to see foxes in London. They are increasingly coming to live
close to cities as they realize that they can obtain food from household
dustbins and bins outside restaurants and cafes. However you normally
only spot them at night or in the early morning; not in broad daylight.
I had seen this pair before, very early one bright summer's morning when they were cubs, playing on my lawn at dawn.
But I had only caught glimpses of them since. Eventually these two noticed my
movements and gradually got up and strolled away, but they did not seem
at all worried by my presence. |
